The Positive Intention Behind Every Action Goes a Long Way

According to the famous poet Martin Walsh, “when you look for the good in others, you discover the best in yourself.” To see good in others is to merely accept them as they are without any judgment, prejudice, or bias. Seeing the good in other people not only means appreciating their appearance but also recognizing their inner positive side. It also helps to substantially improve our happiness. But in this fast-moving world, where people are struggling with the fear of missing out, it is very difficult to find a time and try to understand others. On the other hand, if one aims to stay happy and positive around different people, one needs to work on the power of seeing the good in others. This power can be achieved by simply accepting people as they are.

When we talk about acceptance, it means to view others from their unique perspective. All individuals have the right to their feelings, thoughts, and opinions. As we keep accepting people for who they are, we let go of our desires to change them according to our choices. By doing so we set the other person free, share their thoughts without hesitation, and to have a different opinion about things around them. As all individuals have a peculiar personality, therefore to accept them is to see the good in them. Let’s learn the social skills which will enable us to see the good in others and understand ourselves in a better way.

Here are some simple social skills that might seem obvious, but many of us don’t do such things in our daily lives.

  • Be Curious to know people

Many people have the habit of listening to their friends or family and rush into making judgments about others. Rather than doing so, one should take their time and gather some information about them first. People should have an open mind and look for the positive qualities that the other person possesses. To see the good in other people, we need to look for it first. This task requires both time and patience to accept good things about others.

  • Don’t assume

Sometimes when we come in contact with people we assume a lot of things about them based on their behavior. A person’s behavior may vary according to different situations or difficult times going on in their lives.

So rather than assuming things about them, we should try to understand why they behave in a certain manner and empathize with their situations. This would not only help us build a connection with that person but will help to see them from a more positive perspective.

  • Always keep a smiling face

A charming smile usually entices the other person to smile back. And when a person smiles back, we immediately form a good opinion about them. We think about things such as what a nice smile, such as a friendly person, a positive attitude, etc. Now that’s easy to follow. Smiling always puts one in a great mood, and makes other people around them also happy. Therefore, when we feel good we see the good in others.

  • Finding positive intentions behind every action

Another way to see the good in others is to think that every human action is a positive intention. This may be initially very hard to do, especially considering the horrible human actions in the 21st century. But if one tries to dig deep inside it one can see the positive intention behind every action. Since we cannot find out what their positive intention is but just need to accept that there is one. This would help us to be more tolerant of the bad behaviors of people. It is one of the most powerful concepts as it allows one to reframe something into positive.

  • Forgiveness

Forgiving someone who has wronged us is very difficult. But we must forget and forgive to see the positive traits in people. But above all what is more important is to be able to forgive ourselves. This will help us to see the good in others and forgive them easily.

Hence, the social skills mentioned above are incredibly powerful. Using them will help you to be more empathetic and accepting of others. And when you accept others, you learn to see the good in others.
